Our Statement of Faith

We believe in God, and in Jesus Christ, our Lord.
We seek to know the will of God, to join in his worship, to walk in his ways, to put into practice the teachings of Jesus, to make room in our lives for the Holy Spirit.
We work and pray for progress of knowledge, the promotion of justice, the reign of peace, and the coming at last of human brotherhood.
We put our faith in the Kingdom of God and the
triumph of righteousness. Amen.

A short pictorial, Enjoy !!

Tomorrow may never come

I may never see tomorrow; there's no written guarantee
And things that happened yesterday belong to history.
I cannot predict the future, I cannot change the past,
I have just the present moments, I must treat it as my last.

I must use this moment wisely for it soon will pass away,
and be lost forever, as part of yesterday.
I must exercise compassion, help the fallen to their feet,
Be a friend unto the friendless, make an empty life complete.

The unkind things I do today may never be undone,
And friendships that I fail to win may nevermore be won.
I may not have another chance on bended knees to pray,
and I thank God with a humble heart for giving me this Day.

Important Announcement: Structural damage has been found in the A frames of our church. Critical repairs will begin ASAP. (Order our fundraising birdhouse...scroll down for details)

Church services were being held at Foster Center Baptist Church. They now have been suspended until August 31.

When we look at a patch of dandelions, we see a bunch of weeds that are going to take over our yard. The kids see flowers for Mom and blowing white fluff you can wish on.

When we look at an old drunk and he smiles at us, we see a smelly, dirty person who probably wants money and we look away. The kids see someone smiling at them and they smile back.

When we hear music we love, most of us know we can't carry a tune and don't have much rhythm so we sit self-consciously and listen. The kids feel the beat and move to it. They sing out the words. If they don't know them, they make up their own.

When we feel wind on our face, we brace ourself against it. We feel it messing up our hair and pulling us back when we walk. The kids close their eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground laughing.

When we pray we say thee and thou and grant me this, give me that. The kids say, "Hi God!!! Please keep the bad dreams away tonight. I would miss my Mommy and Daddy."

When we see a mud puddle we step around it. We see muddy shoes and clothes, and dirty carpets. The kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to cross and worms to play with.

I wonder if we are given kids to teach, or to learn from?

These birdhouses are designed by Wood Items and More in Greenville RI and handpainted by the congregation and youth of Hopkins Mills Union Church.
